Plan Your Trip
Idaho rafting trips include day or half-day and extended, multi-day excursions. Because of access limitations in the river canyons of Idaho, rafting trips lasting only a day or two frequently are near roads, while multi-day journeys usually are in back-country or wilderness areas. There are many river trips throughout the country of one or two days duration, but few rivers can provide the experience of multi-day wilderness voyages. Of the few, several are in Idaho. Rafting trips on the Salmon River can be one day long as well as four to six days through each of the three roadless sections of the Salmon River--the Middle Fork, the Main, and the Lower Salmon. For an extended trip, a Middle Fork trip can continue through the Main Salmon, and then the Lower Salmon, for a trip of up to three weeks.
Unique Idaho rafting companies
Some Idaho rafting companies offer a variety of trip lengths on various rivers, while others specialize in only one section of river. Aggipah provides excursions primarily on the Salmon, though we do have a variety of different types for you to consider. We think it is better to stay on one river, and know it better, than to spread out over a number of rivers in different areas. Our primary focus is on the longer trips, on all three roadless sections, but we also do day steelhead fishing in the fall and spring, and day scenic, non-whitewater trips with some Lewis and Clark focus near Salmon.
When planning your vacation or adventure in this area, you'll find mostly small, family businesses rather than the large tour companies often found in national park areas. Aggipah is part of the tradition of local, mom-and-pop, been-there-a-long-time, owner-on-the-trips operations that contrast typical Idaho rafting companies with big-business, volume tourism.
