Idaho Salmon River Rafting Vacations
Your Vacation Your Way!

The Middle Fork of the Salmon River rafting starts to appeal to older kids because we’ll paddle more technical whitewater, hike to spectacular waterfalls, and hone our fly-fishing skills. There are plenty of fascinating places to explore, with the history of the area leaning more toward the pre-historic Indian period rather than the modern era.
It’s important to keep in mind that on our family river rafting trips that age is not a rigid indication of readiness for an Idaho river trip. A certain four-year-old may be more ready for river rafting trip than a seven-year-old. Parents should be able to trust that their children will listen to and abide safety rules for their own protection. You should feel confident that if you tell your child not to go near the river or any other out-of-sight place without supervision, that he or she will remember your advice. We can maintain safe conditions in our boats, but will need parental support in keeping the kids safe in camp.
Safety is our number-one concern on your family river rafting trip. Once we are in camp, a guide will always be available to address safety questions such as, “Where is a good place for my child to go swimming?” Our Idaho river guides are also on-hand for the inevitable kid-related basic first-aid, such as bandaging scraped knees and removing splinters. We carry a satellite phone for bigger emergencies.
For the “Maxcrew” the biggest highlight this year was rafting, fishing, swimming, kayaking, rock jumping and eating our way down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River with the “East Coast Thompsons”. There’s nothing like 6 days of wilderness.. no phones, no lights, no motorcars,…”

A Salmon River whitewater rafting trip is likely to be a highlight kids will look back and remember for years to come. There are so many fun things to do, with equal balance between excitement and quiet time. A wilderness river trip allows families to re-connect and “get away from it all.” A six-day river trip will fly by before you know it, and the kids will be asking, "When are we going to do that again?"

River Rafting with Kids, GREAT FAMILY VACATION IDEAS!
You may be wondering, “What about the kids on the Salmon River? Is it safe to bring my children Salmon River whitewater rafting? Will they have fun? Will six days be too long? Will the family get bored?”
Aggipah River Trips answers: yes, yes, no and no, if they are matched with the most suitable river. Kids are usually ready for Main Salmonriver rafting trips by age 4-5, and the Middle Fork of Salmon river rafting by slightly later. The reason is simple: the Main Salmon River provides warmer swimming and splashing water, big sandy beaches, and less technical whitewater. There are lots of cool places to explore along the river, such as old mining operations and homesteads. The kids can be in and out of the water all day, and build sandcastles and run bare -foot on the beaches once we reach camp each evening.
